Antique Victorian Silver mounted hand cut crystal Claret Jug made in 1894 by James Dixon and Son

Description

Antique Victorian Silver mounted hand cut crystal Claret Jug of bulbous circular form heavily ornamented with bold sunburst star motifs in between tripart foliate designs and diamond hobnail cutting. The underside is also star cut. By contrast the Antique Silver mounting is perfectly plain and unadorned in design with plain loop handle, cushion shaped lid surmounted by urn shaped finial. The jug was made in 1894 by the celebrated maker James Dixon and Son in Sheffield.

Dimensions:-  Height of jug from base to tip of finial is 26 cms. Capacity around 75 cls.
